Environmental Information Centre

The Environmental Information Centre (CAT) of Cavallino-Treporti, inaugurated in 2016, is committed to promoting sustainability and protecting the local environment. Located near the protected area “Dune e Boschi di Ca’ Savio”, the CAT seeks to raise awareness among both residents and visitors about the importance of preserving biodiversity within this fragile and valuable coastal ecosystem.

During the summer months, the Centre offers information services, educational activities, workshop for children, and guided excursions led by expert staff, providing participants with the opportunity to explore the area in depth and learn about the strategies used to protect its diverse habitats.

Guided tours and Labs

The guided tours offered by the Environmental Information Centre are designed to help visitors discover the natural landscapes, history, and agricultural traditions of Cavallino-Treporti.

In addition to nature walks through the pine forest and along the coastal dunes — where participants can observe local flora and fauna and learn about the delicate ecological balance of this stretch of coastline — the programme also includes visits to local farms. These visits showcase cultivation techniques and production methods, offering insight into how agriculture has shaped the area and continues to play a vital role in its identity.

Through explanations and hands-on demonstrations, guests gain a deeper understanding of the connection between people and the land, between seasonal cycles and traditional knowledge, in a landscape shaped by care, sustainability, and hospitality.

For younger visitors, educational workshops (currently only in Italian) are designed to spark curiosity and encourage an early introduction to environmental education through play, observation, and direct contact with nature.

Opening times and contacts

The Environmental Information Centre is open during the summer months on Tuesdays and Fridays from 9:30 AM to 12:30 PM and from 3:30 PM to 7:00 PM.
(On days with scheduled activities, such as bicycle excursions, the Center will remain closed.)
