At the discovery of the Lagoon Pearls

In this experience we’ll take you to discover three pearls of our lagoon, the islands of Burano, Murano, Torcello and San Francesco del Deserto.

For you, we have chosen three shipping companies that offer these tours: Turistica Penzo, Marco Polo and Il Doge di Venezia.
Departure at 8:00 am from the pier (the pier depends on the company chosen).

After getting on board, you’ll leave right away, taking the canal that leads to the island of Burano, passing by Treporti. While navigating you can admire the barene (salt marshes) populated by different kinds of bird species.

First stop Burano, the most picturesque of the islands of the lagoon, thanks to his bright coloured houses.
Once there, you can immediately have a walk in its main street full of handicraft shops and local products, taste a “Bussolà”, the classic traditional biscuit, and take a lot of pictures to take home as souvenir.

We continue towards Torcello, famous for the Basilica of Santa Maria Assunta, for the Church of Santa Fosca and the well-known Throne of Attila where you must to stop for a picture!

Here you can have lunch in one of the renowned typical restaurants of the island.
Returning to the boat, don’t forget to admire the famous Ponte del Diavolo (Devil’s Bridge)…and maybe you can ask someone to tell you the legend…

On board again, we’re ready to go to Murano, famous throughout the globe for the craft of its glass-maker masters and - of course - the glass factories. On the island you’ll surely visit a furnace, where - before looking around in the shop buying something hand-made as souvenir - you can admire the making of a glass-object.

If you are lucky, you will pass by the island of San Francesco del Deserto. This little island - characterized from the outside by the cypresses and by its monastery – is still inhabited by a community of Franciscan Friars, who open their house of worship to the public for a pleasant visit of these places that were stage of the Saint and to whom a little Church was dedicated.

It’s time to go back home, but sure of having seen some of the treasures that make the lagoon of Venice famous across the world!
