Bacaro Tour

In the collective imagination Venice is an enchanted city, the city of the palaces and of architectural masterpieces. Today, we suggest something different, the “Bacaro Tour”, a tour to discover the culinary traditions of the city.
Would you like to come with us?

What is a “Bacaro”? It’s a typical Venetian bar, where you can find a great choice of wines, commonly referred to as “ombre”, you can also drink a “Spritz” (Venetian drink made of white wine, selz and either Aperol, Campari or Select), as well as taste a delicious “cicheto” (traditional Venetian finger food).

Now that you know what a “Bacaro” is, we can start our tour at the discovery of the best “Bacari” of Venice.

  • Bacaro risorto (Campo S. Provolo, 4700): just a few steps from Piazza San Marco, it’s a good point to start the tour because it is also near the water bus stop (Line 14 ACTV) that connects Cavallino-Treporti to Venice. A wide selection of beers and wines with the addition of excellent “cicheti”.
  • El Magazen (Calle Larga Giacinto Gallina, 5402): we are closed to Campo San Giovanni e Paolo, heart of the district of Castello, we recommend this “bacaro” for its traditions, but also to try the excellent dishes of its cuisine.
  • Osteria all’Alba (Ramo del Fontego dei Tedeschi, 380): wonderful location, at the foot of the Rialto bridge, inside you’ll find a young team and good music. We suggest you to try their “Americano” cocktail prepared with exceptional ingredients and a lot of passion.
  • Cicheteria Sepa (Calle de la Bissa, 5482): situated in a bit hidden street, but in fact in a central place behind Campo San Bortolomio. Sepa is the right place for traditional food lovers: “cicheti”, Venetian polpette (meatballs), “sarde in saor”, nothing is missing.
  • Osteria ai Pugni (Fondamenta Gherardini, 2836):  near Campo Santa Margherita, area of the Venetian movida, the Osteria is a good place to taste a wide selection of wines and some excellent “cicheti”.
  • Taverna Remer (Cannaregio, 5701): Amazing location on the Grand Canal, a drink with unforgettable view on the Rialto Bridge. Inside there’s a piano available to everyone, so, if you can play the piano and you’re in mood to celebrate with your friends…that’s the right place for you!
  • Bacareto da Lele (Fondamenta dei Tolentini, 183): near the railway station Venezia Santa Lucia and a few steps from Piazzale Roma. This small “bacaro” is already a legend in Venice, attended by the residents and by the many students of the university that live in the area. Here you’ll discover some genuine Venetian tastes.
  • Al Timon (Fondamenta dei Ormesini, 2754): in the centre of Cannaregio. This is more than a “bacaro”, we suggest you to try their grilled steak, a real delicacy.
In the Canal just in front of the “bacaro” there’s a boat moored where you can seat and have a drink.
  • Corte dell'Orso (Sestiere di S. Marco, 5495): suggestive place, classic furniture, the real gem is the terrace on the “córte”, you can taste you drink in peace even if you’re just a few meters away from Rialto. The rich variety of “cicheti” and a good selection of wines makes la Corte dell’Orso one of the busiest bacari attended by Venetians.
