Protected Area – Lio Piccolo and Mesole

The Municipality of Cavallino-Treporti has formalised, with Ordinance No. 15 of 22/02/2024, the extension of the Urban Traffic Restricted Zone (ZTRU) covering the hamlets of Lio Piccolo and Mesole — including the fishing valleys — throughout the entire year.

Main provisions

Access with motor vehicles is prohibited on public holidays and pre-holiday days from 07:00 to 18:30 in the area in front of the village of Lio Piccolo.
Stopping in the vehicle interchange areas is not permitted, and parking is limited to 120 minutes in authorised spaces.
Transit of caravans, campers and tourist buses is prohibited; these vehicles must stop at the Treporti Cemetery parking area.
To reach restaurants, agritourisms or accommodation facilities inside the ZTRU on restricted-access days, visitors must request an access pass via the official portal: www.accessoliopiccolo.com
Exemptions apply to residents, property owners, holders of water concessions, electric/hybrid vehicles, emergency and service vehicles, and other cases specified in the ordinance.

A measure to protect the lagoon and its surroundings

This measure was introduced to protect the lagoon landscape, reduce vehicle impact on the historic village, and ensure a sustainable way of accessing the area. It is part of a wider strategy to enhance the environmental and cultural value of the Lio Piccolo and Mesole area.
