This year, Cavallino-Treporti offers a true Nativity journey, with over 20 Nativity scenes scattered along the coastline. Among them is the Lagoon Nativity, a waterborne scene with over 400 statues depicting various Nativity scenes. Visible along the 8 km suspended pedestrian and cycling path over the lagoon on Via Pordelio, the longest in Europe, this installation blends the beauty of the lagoon landscape with the magic of Christmas, creating a unique atmosphere.

A standout attraction is the Cinderella-themed Christmas Village, designed and curated with passion and expertise by Daniel Marangon Goretti, known as "The King of Christmas." This enchanting village, full of details and fairy-tale charm, is a must-see for anyone looking to immerse themselves in the magic of the holidays and marvel at the creativity of one of the region's most beloved traditions.

But that's not all. Numerous Nativity scenes, crafted with care and dedication by local citizens, associations, and parishes, await visitors. For children, the Brick Christmas offers a unique experience with over 45,000 Lego bricks to build Christmas decorations. There will also be sports attractions like a roller-skating rink and skate park, providing a mix of tradition and modernity.

Christmas Regattas: Santa Claus and Befanas

Christmas Regattas: Santa Claus and Befanas

The festive season wouldn't be complete without traditional Christmas regattas. The Santa Claus Regatta and the Befana Regatta will enliven the lagoon, accompanied by music, entertainment, and treats for children. From the panoramic terrace in Piazza Cavallino, you can admire the typical voga alla veneta boats parading on the water, combining the magic of Christmas with the beauty of the lagoon landscape. Don’t miss the grand gathering of the Befanas, ending the festivities with cheer and folklore.

The Magic of Pavineri and the Living Nativity

On the coastline, the ancient Venetian tradition of pan e vin, locally known as Pavineri, closes the Christmas season in style. At dusk, as the bells toll, large bonfires light up the coastline, symbolizing the burning of the Befana. This deeply rooted local ritual represents leaving the old year behind and wishing for prosperity in the new one. According to popular tradition, the direction of the ashes predicts the course of the coming year. The Pavineri are also a time for community celebration: sweets and stockings for children, pinza cake, and mulled wine for everyone, creating a warm and convivial atmosphere.

Among the most beloved Christmas celebrations, the Living Nativity takes place at the nursery of Armando Artiano Bodi, transformed into a magical setting for the occasion. Every detail is meticulously crafted, from the costumed figures to the shepherds with their animals, faithfully recreating the atmosphere of the Nativity. This representation involves the entire community, offering an evocative and authentic experience that captivates adults and children alike. The Living Nativity is a special occasion to come together and celebrate Epiphany, which traditionally closes the holiday season.
