Fishing Permit and License

Sea Fishing

Sea Fishing

To practice recreational or sport fishing at sea, you are required to register—free of charge—on the website of the Italian Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Forestry.

This registration must be completed by the fisherman either directly on the official page or with the support of sport fishing associations.
The printed confirmation of the online procedure serves as a valid authorization to fish recreationally in the sea.

According to article 6.2 of the ordinance, recreational rod fishing is only allowed from beaches, piers, groynes, or rocky shores during nighttime hours, specifically from 7:30 PM to 9:00 AM, provided that access to these areas is not prohibited and that the surrounding waters are not used by swimmers within a 300-meter radius.
If swimmers enter the area during these hours, fishing must be immediately suspended.

Inland Waters Fishing

To fish in the Venetian Lagoon, Canale Casson, or Canale Pordelio, a Type B fishing license is required. This license is issued by the province of residence.

For residents in the Veneto region, the sport/recreational fishing license (Type B) is obtained by paying a regional concession fee of €34.00, which includes the angler’s personal details and the reason for payment:
“Licenza di pesca dilettantistico-sportiva L.R. 19/1998”.

This payment is valid as a fishing license throughout Italy.
In Veneto, the Type B license allows fishing in all waters not subject to concessions, exclusive fishing rights, or bans. Licenses issued by other Italian regions or the autonomous provinces of Trento and Bolzano are also valid in Veneto (Art. 9, para. 2 – Regional Law no. 19/1998).

Minors under 18 and residents over 70 years old are exempt from payment. In these cases, fishing is allowed with a valid ID only (Art. 10, para. 2 – L.R. 19/1998 as amended by L.R. 9/2015).

Italian citizens residing abroad may fish under the same conditions as Veneto residents, by presenting proof of payment of the €34.00 fee, along with valid ID (Art. 11, para. 1 – L.R. 19/1998).

Foreign nationals residing abroad may fish recreationally if they possess proof of payment of the €13.00 fee for a Type D license, which is valid for three months and must be presented together with an identity document.

Fishing in the Sile River

In the Piave Vecchia–Sile area (from the Piave River dam in Musile di Piave to the confluence with the Sile River at Caposile, and continuing to the mouth at Cavallino), exclusive fishing rights apply.

To fish in these stretches, you must hold a valid fishing license plus a specific permit issued by the rights holders, in this case FIPSAS Venezia.
